Gong Li wants me

My friend interviewed Gong Li when she was in New York doing publicity for "Curse of the Golden Flower". She asked me to be her photographer. Working with limited equipment and lighting and skill, this is what I came up with. Gong Li, of course, recognized upon seeing me that I was more of a swordsman than a photographer and invited me to prove my skill. I'm not one to kiss and tell but let's just say my friend left without me whereupon I did much to reduce our trade deficit with China, if you will.
Here she is goofing off with me after the interview. Can you see the passion for me in her eyes? It was quite powerful.
Wong Jia Wei window

A group of kids asked me what I was taking a picture of as I was crouched next to my tripod across the street from this restaurant. I told them the light in the restaurant was pretty. I wasn't thinking that I was taking a picture that Wong Jia Wei might have approved -- writing on a window, action behind it -- but was reminded of it soon afterward when I read an article about a scene he shot in a restaurant in downtown NY -- He had letters specially painted on the windows for his movie. Anyway... so, yeah, me and Wong Jia Wei... hard to tell the difference.
baby's first picture

This is the first picture from the first camera I've ever owned. I used to play around with my dad's old twin-reflex Rolleiflex camera (http://www.sheldonbrown.org/cameras/rolleiflex.html). Took some nice pictures with it. Big fat gorgeous 2.25 inch negatives. those were the days. anyway, that's my desk in my room at the Beijing Language and Culture University. I hope you like this picture because it only get worse from here.
